Over 28,000 people have now seen the slides of the presentation but sadly only about five hundred have seen the presentation live in it's full glory. Those of you who have seen one of my presentations before will know that the slides are only a small part of the presentation. It's just not the same without the full visual and audio experience. The organisers of the Sydney Joomla!Day have invited me to give this presentation but as Australia is just one trip too many this year I will be giving it via the magic of the internet.

Today is Halloween so it's a good time to addresses a scary topic. After a baby-hiatus this summer, I've been back on the road again teaching a lot of Joomla and Drupal. I'm talking to a lot of end-users and finding that there's something really scary In our open source platforms.

Thanks to the platinum sponsor Seblod, creator of a new CCK for Joomla!, we were able to host a dinner party on Friday night for 50 of our sponsors, speakers, volunteers, and international guests. The wonderful staff at House of Brews made our event quite memorable. It was exciting to have so much Joomla! talent in one room - core team, OSM board members, major component developers, hosting companies, and grateful end users mingled as the excitement level grew for the coming weekend events.

With an October 25th announcement on the public Joomla! leadership email list, work has begun on the Joomla! project's 2012 goal setting and budget planning proposed process. 2011 was the first year that the Production Leadership Team (PLT), Community Leadership Team, (CLT) and Open Source Matters board of directors (OSM) put in the extra effort to first define their goals for the year before they began work on their parts of the project's overall budget.

So after a very very long development cycle, caused in part by ill health and by contractual obligations, I’m pleased to announce the immediate release of bfForms for Joomla 1.7. This is the first release of quite a few exciting projects in the next month so keep watching our blog or twitter @blueflameit for more details.

That is the reason why there are plenty of articles with the key phrase “Must-have Joomla extensions” on the Internet. Each article has its own list of essential extensions based on the author’s experience and here you are going to see another list that helps you build solid websites.

Ozio Gallery 3 is now made compatible with Joomla 1.7. The gallery extension includes a lot of cool effects for photo galleries such as 3D Tilt, Image Rotator, Mosaico, Flash Gallery, Accordion and Carousel. It is possible for you to display your images from any Flickr folder on Ozio Gallery and implement several galleries on your site. You are allowed to publish the gallery with both menu items and gallery content, or either of them.

If you are reading this, then you may have noticed that Joomlaworks has recently launched a new Joomla based K2 website in a move away from the previous Ning based site. To help in streamlining support and documentation, we are consolidating websites and data, so that the K2 documents that appeared on Simon Says Get K2 www.simon.getk2.org will appear on the main k2 site. As a result Simon Says site will be closed from the 1st December 2011, as it will become redundant but a redirect will be put in place to an archive of this data on K2Joom.com.
